Fifth Grade Art
What will we be focusing on in 5th Grade?
- How are planning, creating, and refining essential elements of the art-making process? We will create sketchbooks and review our art-making process of Idea, Plan, Create and Refine, Reflect and Share. - What can inspire artists to create a work of art? We will take a look at assemblage artists whose inspirations come from natural and/or man-made objects (Joseph Cornell, Tara Donovan, and Andy Goldsworthy, for example) and create our own art based on these materials. https://www.pinterest.com/stephholmberg1/art-from-nature-and-manmade-objects-5/
- How can artists communicate a theme or idea through multiple individual works? Most artist have a series of works that share a theme or idea. We will experiment with digital photography and editing. We may also experiment with a textured relief using joint compound or relief printmaking. - How does visual culture demonstrate experiences and ideas? How do artists use text in art and design? We will discuss visual culture, graphic design and how messages can be communicated through art. - How do we create sculpture in clay? We will learn basic clay construction techniques and create a sculpture of our own design (animal or portrait, for example).
